Here are couple of photographs from our Open Show which CSJ sponsored in July.

Also to give you an update on Hector (Hernwood Achilles at Ettrick) – he has now enough points for his Junior Warrant, and continues to win all his classes at Open Shows and Championship Shows. He gained Best of Breed at Paignton Championship Show (we don’t have CC’s at this show but meant he got into the big ring) and topped a very successful weekend by winning the Junior Stakes class at National Gundog Championship Show.

Hector also continues to be the top puppy in the breed at over half way through the show year.

Strong, fit and well prepared for the challenging courses this year’s European Open

Agility Team GB dogs and handlers looked strong, fit and well prepared for the challenging courses this years European Open (EO) presented. We came home with a silver medal in the team relay final, a class win in the medium individual agility and overall top medium dog. This was a fantastic result for the team.

This years championships attracted over 800 dogs from 37 countries. The attendance grows each year establishing the EO as one of the top FCI competitions. All the current FCI World Champions attended and the competition builds over the three days to a thrilling Sunday final.

Thanks to the ongoing support from our sponsors particularly CSJ, Streamz and First Contact, Agility Team GB were able to send one of our largest teams this year, 25 dogs across all three height categories. The team was selected from this years squad of 50 dogs who have trained and prepared together since December.

As Team Manager I’m very proud for the opportunity to work with these top handlers and support them as they compete with the best in the world. The Coaching team work tirelessly in the background helping prepare the dogs and handlers with their course skills, fitness, mental preparations, strategy and game plan. Coming home with medals and class wins makes all the preparations and practice worthwhile.

I’d like to acknowledge all the support CSJ provide the team over the course of the year. This enables us to help prepare the team and send a strong coaching team to the championships.

The Game Fair – Ragley Hall 2018

Friday turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year, with dogs in the Euro Challenge experiencing difficulties due to the conditions in the International Arena.

Saturday was another difficult day with humidity and heat in the morning and gale force winds, torrential rain, thunder and arc lightening during the afternoon.

Sunday was mainly dry until the presentation, which had to be postponed and moved into the marquee, due to the heavy rain.

The Spaniel course for the International proved very difficult and challenging with one straightforward mark retrieve and the others being very difficult long blind retrieves over fences, including a very tempting diversion in the form of a simulated rabbit.

The Retriever course, set by Richard Price of Usk Valley, was excellent but challenging.

The results showed England making a clean sweep of the prizes, Top International Team, Top Retriever and Top Spaniel Team. Wales ran out a very creditable second in the Spaniel international event whilst Wales also ran out second in the International Retriever Team event, providing a challenge to the extremely strong English team.

There were excellent individual performances from Nigel Probert and Haydn Willmott, second and third respectively in the individual retriever category. In addition, David Williams was third overall individual  Spaniel, also winning the team run off against David Lisett of Scotland. This was again a very good performance from the team –

Aled Jones – Molly, Paul Roberts – Rea, Dave Williams – Ruby, Aled Jones – Frano and Dave Williams – Sid, Vicky Stanley – Pip, Barney Williams – Duke, Nigel Probert – Angus, Haydn Willmott- Will and Alan Rees – Magnum.
