‘Fit ‘n’ Fast! review – Molly’s story

 ‘Fit ‘n’ Fast! review – Molly’s story

By: Kirsty Dodd

I’d just like to share Molly’s story with you mostly as a huge thank you for your amazing food!

This is a very very happy Molly!

Molly is my 4 year old rescue large munsterlander/collie mix. She was rescued along with her sister from a drunk farmer who was threatening to shoot at them. Their rescuer drove through the night to fetch the two girls from him.

She kept them as foster dogs till they could be re-homed. Molly was initially re-homed at around 6 months old but unfortunately that didn’t work out so she went back into foster care. Just as she turned 1yr old she came to live with me as a trial for the weekend with me and my husky.

Within the first week I quickly discovered Molly’s health issues! A couple of nights in I woke up to what in all honestly looked like somebody has slit their wrists in my living room. My insides dropped, Having never seen anything like it before I thought I was going to lose her.

After many vet visits, medication trials and allergy testing it became apparent that Molly suffers from hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. The slightest bit of food that her body doesn’t agree with and it sets the whole process off again. I’ve tried Molly on grain free, sensitive, hyper allogenic, raw, the list goes on without particularly great results.  Her weight drops so fast when she has an episode and nothing seemed to be helping. Not to mention living on a budget is important to me – £70 a month on dog food for one is a last resort.

I decided to try Fit ‘n’ Fast! by recommendation of our trainer Hayley Laches. After looking into the ingredients I could see that it had all the ingredients I have seen in foods that are specific for sensitive tummies. Beet pulp, milk thistle, mint, yucca, marigold, salmon, the list goes on. So I agreed to give it a go.

Molly has been on Fit ‘n’ Fast! now since August 2019. Her tummy episodes have since since near disappeared! Her weight has gone from a very skinny 15kg on average to a healthy 20kg! – my vet was astonished last month at her weight! She loves the food so much I can carry it around as training treats too. She looks healthy! Her coat is shiny and she feels like she has some muscle mass on her for the first time in her life. Her energy and endurance has lifted and I am seeing a significant difference in her strength whilst competing in agility and hoopers.

I’m so happy with Fit ‘n’ Fast! that I have also moved my youngster, Misha Bear, on too who is also looking amazing and loving the food. She will be competing in Crufts this year in the Border Collie Breed Classes and is already looking to be an absolute superstar in both agility and hoopers! She turns 16 months old on Crufts weekend, after which she will be able to start competing in both sports.

Here are some links of Molly so you can see how amazing she is doing and I’d just like to say thank you very very much for having such an affordable and amazing food product on the market that agrees with my girl! It really has been a big deal to me how well she has done on it!

Are you a dog food snob?

By Ceri Rundle

You know the ones – the ‘magpie’ people who stand in front of the shelves and pick up the shiniest packs.

No, they don’t bother to read the ingredients or check the nutrients inside. They just grab the glossiest packs with the brightest pictures or the feeds they’ve seen on expensive ads. After all, it’s easy to fall for fancy packaging and think that choosing the most costly food shows you’re giving your dog the ‘best’.

All these ‘magpie’ people are doing is demonstrating that they don’t really understand the dog they love.  Branding is powerful and recognition of a highly advertised logo can unfairly influence your opinion.

Do your research properly

A few years ago, I spoke to a dog owner, whose dog had experienced regular digestive upsets. So, after discussing the dog’s dietary history I sent her samples of the foods that I thought might solve the problem and suit her dog.  Encased in plain bags, all evidence of the name, ingredients and price of the sample foods were hidden. I took care not to tell the dog owner how much each of the foods cost, until after her dog had tried them.  I then waited for her to give me some proper feedback as experience showed me that the price of the food could influence her choice to purchase.

Sometimes cheap can win all the prizes

p_champ_mImagine when it turned out that Champ! Adult was loved by the dog and had sorted the digestive problem out, but was surprisingly reasonably priced. Several owners that I did this ‘blind’ testing on actually admitted  that they wouldn’t have chosen  Champ! Adult, if they had known how ‘cheap’ it was – especially if they’d been paying a lot more money for foods that had possibly caused a digestive upset in the first place.

When you’re testing dog food, anonymity is vital

If you saw what you perceived to be a ‘cheap’ brand, you might not even let your precious dog sully its lips with it. And yet that food might be the one that suits and your dog loves the best.

Basic packaging keeps our prices low

It’s always been part of our CSJ ethos to keep the packaging simple – because then we can keep prices low too.

We regularly review the environmental impact of the feed packaging and need packaging that can keep food fresh during storage and protect from outside elements. Currently the best solution is still recyclable plastic, but we’re always looking for better answers – while keeping prices down.

Moral of the story

flat,1000x1000,075,f.u2If your dog isn’t happy on the food you’re giving, check with our nutrition expert Nicki.  Don’t go on our online shop and just choose the most expensive.

Just fill out the short form on our website to give Nicki information about your dog and she’ll give you an individual recommendation of exactly what feeds, treats, supplements and herbs suit your dog the best and she’ll arrange for food samples to be sent out.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating

It’s what sets us apart from the competition. We don’t spend money on pricy packaging, ads or sales people. We see all the time that other brands just build these costs into the ever increasing  retail price for the customer.

We prefer to have an expert nutritionist on board who can give professional free health advice, to ensure that every dog has the right food for its individual digestive system. We’re all different and so are our dogs. So, don’t be a ‘magpie’ person, be someone who cares.

Lap-It-Up! can help the old and the young

Jo

Reuben

By Jo, K925

Just a little note to say we have been using Lap-it-Up! lots recently – I got
it ready for the summer in case I needed to encourage the dogs to drink
more, well summer didn’t seem to happen but unfortunately our old dog had a
vestibular episode.

He refused water but would happily lap this up! We did
lose him sadly, but at least I could make sure he was hydrated and not
needing a drink.

One of our younger dogs Reuben, has also just had a urine infection – again keeping
him hydrated was important, especially as the vets couldn’t see him on the
bank holiday when he first showed symptoms. He has been really enjoying his
treat of a milky drink and recovering very well!

Anyway I just thought that this might be interesting as it’s such a
versatile product. I also tried freezing it in kongs but that wasn’t as
successful – maybe I need to make doggy ice cubes with it instead next year
when it’s hot!

Kizzy Calms Down and passes KC Bronze test

2017-04-14-PHOTO-00000003Press release – 26.4.17

CSJ receive testimonials every day from delighted customers, but the message from Donna Waring about her stressed and barking puppy Kizzy stood out as dog training classes had refused to help because Donna is totally blind.

Other dogs barking at Kizzy had caused her to retaliate and bark back, which then escalated into a fear of small dogs and she would bark every time she passed one.

Donna worked hard with her by introducing her to dogs of various sizes and putting her on CSJ’s acclaimed Calm Down! herbal supplement.

When she finally found a dog club willing to allow them to attend Donna told CSJ, “I took her along and all my hard work and Calm Down had done its stuff. She was absolutely fine and just barked twice the whole of the time we were there.”

The following week the group were doing a Kennel Club Good Citizen Bronze test and Donna entered Kizzy just for practice…but she passed!

Donna told CSJ, “This is the best calming product I have ever tried. Don’t get me wrong, you have to put the work in. But if you work hard and use the product in conjunction, you can achieve a lot.”
